Our presence and presentation skills tell others a lot about who we are. Whether in one-on-one conversation, on camera, or in front of a live audience, we will be best served by perfecting the way we connect and communicate with others.
While each of us has a unique speaking style, there are certain qualities every great speaker must possess. The sooner you embrace these qualities (the sooner you believe that you can possess and project these qualities!), the sooner you will be powerful, impressive, engaging, influential, and more.
Every great speaker possesses and projects confidence. This is the best foundation for communicating effectively. When we speak in a confident manner, our posture is strong, we make good eye contact, and we deliver our message with clarity and conviction.
“Confidence is best the foundation for communicating effectively.”
As a speaker – again, whether in formal or informal presentations and conversations – enthusiasm is key. Enthusiasm captivates and engages your listeners and reflects that you are passionate about whatever it is you are speaking about.
Finally, all great speakers come from a place of sincerity. When you are speaking with others, above all, it is important to be sincerely, genuinely, and authentically you. It is important, too, to be sincere in your message. This is the starting point for building trust, credibility, and familiarity with your listeners.
These three qualities, together, are the things that bold and brilliant speakers are made of. Go get yours!
Now I want to hear from you. How have confidence, enthusiasm, and sincerity played a role in your business success? What other traits do you think effective communicators must have? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
